The relative peace being experienced in Osun has been attributed to the activities of traditionalists in Osun State.

An Osun priestess, Osunbukola Olosun-Elebuibon made this known during at the annual Osun and Egbe festival which was held at Ayegbami Area, Osogbo.

Speaking during the festival, Olosun-Elebuibon stated that peace has been achieved over the decades in the state by the regular propitiation by traditionalists especially Osun adherents.

The Osun priestess stated that traditionalists have been engaging in regular appeasement to the deities and the deities have always heeded the prayers.

While urging the state government to place more to the support of traditionalists and culture enthusiasts, she disclosed that doing so would ensure increase revenue generation as it had been noted during cultural festivals.

She explained that Osun festival is held to thank the Osun goddess for her protection over Osogbo, Osun state and its citizens.

In her words, "For decades, Osun fulfilled her promises to prosper Osogbo and it inhabitants, both indigenes and settlers. The goddess has been faithful to her promise. Despite many hostile communities that surround Osogbo, the town has continued to prosper.

“We are gathered here today to fulfil our side of the bargain, to show appreciation to Osun goddess, for progress and peace being witnessed across the state."

The Osun priestess also called in other religious adherents to emulate the tolerant nature of traditionalists in order to foster harmonious co-existence in the interest of the state socioeconomic development.
