With the presidential elections 10 days away, the Labour Party has dismissed rife reports that its structure in the southwest has collapsed for the All Progressives Congress (APC)

This follows widely circulated claims on Monday, February 13 that LP members in the southwest had dumped the party to support Bola Tinubu, the presidential candidate of the ruling party.

According to the report, the LP chieftains who were received into the APC by the National Chairman of SWAGA, Dayo Adeyeye, were reportedly led by the Southwest Chairman of the ruling party, Banji Omotosho.

Omotosho is quoted to have said he decided to switch to the APC after realizing that LP was not viable and lacked the clout to win the 2023 elections.

But speaking with DAILY POST on Tuesday, the chief spokesperson of the LP presidential campaign council, Aliyu Tanko said the structure is still intact, describing the report as fake.

Tanko accused APC of peddling fake reports, stressing that the party does not know the acclaimed collapsed structure.

He said, “They are fake People. The Labour Party structure in Southwest is very much intact. Those particular people you see that are claiming to be leadership of the party in the region, we don’t even know them.

“These were fake reports from the APC. There are a lot of things you will see coming up. Even the N2bn allegation against Obi are all lies”.
