'Osun people can finally rest' - Nigerians react to supreme court's affirmation of Adeleke as Osun gov

Thousands of Nigerians have taken to social media to express their joy over the affirmation of Ademola Adeleke as the validly elected Governor of Osun State by the Supreme Court.

The Supreme Court made the declaration on Tuesday, May 9, 2023.

In its lead judgement delivered by Justice Emmanuel Agim, the Supreme Court dismissed an appeal that was lodged against Adeleke’s election victory by the former governor of the state, Adegboyega Oyetola, who was the gubernatorial candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Oyetola alleged that Adeleke won the elections through over-voting that occurred in 774 polling units in the state, he, however, failed to produce any Bimodal Voters Accreditation System, BVAS, a machine that was used in any of the polling units to prove his allegation.

Reacting, some Nigerians stated that Governor Ademola Adeleke is the choice of the people of Osun. They also added that the Osun people can finally rest, now that they have their preferred candidate as governor.
