Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun state has suspended foreign trips for top government officials of his administration for the rest of the year, except for emergencies.

Governor Adeleke has confirmed the suspension of foreign trips by top government officials in Osun state.

As reported by The Punch, Adeleke instructed that the state's expenditure should henceforth be focused on implementing critical projects across the sectors.

Adeleke gave the directive on Monday, October 23, when he hosted the State Executive Council meeting with a key focus on treasury board decisions as it affects preparation for budget 2024 and landmark pronouncements on state governance.

The governor declared that excessive spending on recurrent and overheads must be avoided, urging cabinet members to make personal sacrifices in the face of the state's harsh financial situation.

The spokesperson to the governor, Olawale Rasheed, confirmed the development via a statement issued in Osogbo on Monday, The Nation report added.

Earlier, Legit.ng reported that Nigerians reacted to the recent activities of Ademola Adeleke, who played host to three appointees of President Bola Tinubu from the state.

Adeleke, in a tweet on Thursday, October 19, announced that he hosted Air Marshal Amoo (Rtd), Chief of the Nigerian Air Force; Lt. Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja, Chief of Army Staff; and Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, the acting Comptroller-General of Customs to a state banquet on Wednesday, October 18.

In another report, Governor Adeleke imposed a 24-hour curfew in Ilobu and Ifon communities due to communal clashes triggered by a land dispute.

This development was announced on Friday, October 6, via a statement issued by the Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Kolapo Alimi.

The commissioner revealed that Governor Adeleke's decision to declare the curfew would help douse the tension and prevent further loss of lives and properties.
