Osinbajo gives assurance, says Nigerian traders in Ghana will get justice

Nigerian traders in Ghana who were recently affected by the stiff business regulations imposed by the West African authorities have been assured of getting justice.

The assurance was given on Tuesday evening, September 15, at a meeting with representatives of the Nigerian community in Ghana, The Nation reported.

The vice president said both countries have had fruitful discussions over the issue but noted that bureaucracy might have delayed the result of the diplomatic engagement.

Legit.ng gathers that the meeting focused on the challenges facing Nigerians living in Ghana, including the recent locking up of hundreds of shops belonging to them.

“I will certainly convey the depth of your grievances to the president. I am sure that he will be deeply disturbed to hear that despite the assurances that he had received (from the Ghanaian government), there are still problems and complications,” he said.

Earlier, Legit.ng reported that Femi Gbajabiamila, the speaker of the House of Representatives, was commended following his expedient intervention in the recent trade dispute between Nigerian traders and their Ghanaian counterparts.

The commendations and a flurry of encomiums were showered on the lawmaker by the Nigeria-Ghana Business Council & the Nigeria Union of Traders Association Ghana.

In the letter signed by the association's president, Chief Chukwuemeka Nnaji, the Nigerian traders urged the speaker not to despair in ensuring that resolutions reached during the interface are implemented by all concerned parties.
