The vice president of Nigeria arrived in Ikenne, Ogun State, his birthplace, ahead of the elections for the governorship and state assembly which is scheduled for Saturday, March 18.

The vice president on his arrival met with state officials from the state's community and the All Progressives Congress.

Osinbajo took to his Instagram page to share photos of his arrival in his hometown ahead of the election.

He captioned the photos: "@dolapoosinbajo and I arrived in Ikenne, ahead of tomorrow’s Gubernatorial & House of Assembly Elections and held meetings with APC Leaders and Community Leaders."

Many Nigerians on social media took to his comment section to welcome him as he returns to his roots, while anticipating that the vice president will one day become president of Nigeria.
