Osimhen reacts to national award

Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen has expressed his delight after receiving national honour from President Muhammadu Buhari.

The 24-year-old on Sunday, May 28 confirmed that he has been awarded the prestigious Member of the Order of the Federal Republic (MFR) by the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

The Super Eagles striker in a tweeted statement said it was an amazing moment as it also marked his 100th Napoli appearance for the newly crowned Italian champions.

“Today, I feel so blessed and grateful as I announce that I have been awarded the prestigious Member of the Order of the Federal Republic (MFR) award by the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

“Today also marked my 100th game for Napoli and I was fortunate to score 2 goals for my club, it is an amazing moment and feeling for me to be able to achieve this feat for this great club,” his statement partly reads.

The Napoli talisman marked his century of appearances with a brace as Luciano Spalletti's side played out a 2-2 draw away at Bologna.

With his double, Osimhen has moved his goal tally this season to 30 goals in 38 appearances in all competitions.

The leading Serie A top scorer has also extended his lead at the top of the Serie A top scorer's chart to 25, four goals more than Inter Milan's Lautaro Martinez.
