Ortom condemns attack by gunmen on Goodluck Jonathan's residence

Governor Samuel Ortom has condemned the attack by gunmen on the residence of former president Goodluck Jonathan in Bayelsa State yesterday.

MyNigeria reported that the attack which was repelled by some soldiers on duty saw the death of three of the gunmen and a soldier.

Reacting to the attack via a statement made available to newsmen, Ortom condemned wondered why an attempt was made on the life of the former president whom he described as a peace-loving man.

The statement read in part: “The Governor describes the attack as unfortunate and urges security operatives to bring the culprits to justice.

“He also calls on security agencies to intensify surveillance in all parts of the country to guarantee the safety of lives and property.

“Governor Ortom joins other Nigerians in praising God for sparing the life of former President Jonathan when the attackers invaded his residence.

“If Dr Jonathan could be attacked in such a manner, what becomes of vulnerable Nigerians?”
