Commotion hit Ondo state on Monday, April 1, as residents of Akure hijacked a truck load of food items branded in President Bola Tinubu’s name.

It was reported that the truck conveying grains such as rice, beans, garri into the state with Tinubu’s name, logo following the hardship in the country.

Report indicates that the truck driver was overpowered after he developed a mechanical fault at a junction known as the cultural centre along the Ondo express road.

Confirming the incidents, witnesses said those who hijacked the truck and catered away with the items include traders, artisans, drivers and commercial motorcyclists.

“How they got to know the content still surprised me. The truck developed a mechanical fault and before we knew it the residents forced it open.

“They began to bring out the items in the pack which are mostly grains like rice and garri branded in President Tinubu’s blue colour, name and logo,” a witness said.

Condemning the action of the resident is social media critic, Ibidapo Adelusi. Who called on the police to apprehend the culprits.
“We know there’s hunger and hardship in the land but this is a crime against fellow humans. The police should not hesitate to fish out these thieves,” Adelusi said.

According to the Gazette, efforts to reach the spokesperson for the police force in Ondo to speak on the incident proved futile.
