On-air personality and broadcast journalist Rufai Oseni has weighed in on the controversy surrounding the marriage between politician Ned Nwoko and his wife, actress Regina Daniels.
Speaking about the alleged scuffle that rocked their marriage over the weekend, Rufai advised Nigerians to stay out of their marital issues, insisting that the couple would likely reconcile soon.
He, however, cautioned Regina to leave the marriage if abuse is involved.
“When both of them were doing love in Tokyo, we all used to see them, right? Is it not Ned Nwoko and his wife? We used to see them when they were all lovey-dovey in Tokyo. But you see, two things I’ll say: once abuse gets in, please leave, because abuse will never stop,” he said.
“Once drugs get in, please seek counselling because it’s hard to shake off a drug problem. Thirdly, will people be sanctioned for what they have done? Never — because they are politicians and they have power. That’s the downside of this country.”
Oseni further predicted that the couple might reconcile despite the public fallout.
“Let me predict what will happen, and I might be wrong. A couple of months down the line, they will probably reconcile because money too is a factor. Let’s go back to the circumstances of the marriage in the first place. That’s why, please women, not all that glitters is gold. Along the line, they will tell us to mind our own business — that what God has joined together, let no man put asunder. Unfortunately, the abuse might continue, but we won’t be privy to it.”
“So yes, we have to talk as public commentators, but honestly, that’s why I don’t like to put my mouth in a man and woman’s issue. We are just wasting saliva. But there’s a role money plays in all of this. There’s a role class plays, a role substance plays, and a role power plays. If it were an ordinary person, all the NGOs in Nigeria would have filed court cases by now.”
Recall that over the weekend, Regina Daniels alleged that she had been physically abused by her husband — an allegation Nwoko has denied. He described her recent actions as “drug-influenced” and “unprovoked carnage.”
In a lengthy post and video shared on his Instagram handle, @princenednwoko, on Sunday, the politician claimed the actress was battling drug and alcohol addiction, which he said was the root of their marital crisis.
“Regina was not always like this. Her current battle with drug and alcohol abuse is the root of our problem. She must continue her rehabilitation programme, or I fear for her life and safety,” he wrote.
