The Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Abdulrasheed Akanbi, has prohibited the consumption of alcoholic beverages within his palace, stating that only activities aligned with the worship of God are allowed on the royal grounds.

The monarch announced this in a widely circulated social media video, emphasizing that the palace should remain a sacred space to foster spiritual growth and facilitate answered prayers.

Addressing those present, the traditional ruler said, “We keep telling our people to make this palace holy. I don’t want any alcoholic drink in this palace, anything that doesn’t align with God should leave this palace.

“We call this place ‘Aafin Olodumare’ (Palace of God), there’s a mosque here, and we want our prayers to be answered. We are doing this for ourselves before prayers are being answered, and before you can make a place holy, it must start from oneself.

“Please, it is because of you, if you know you want to drink, please take it outside, just drink it outside or somewhere else.”
