The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, has called on Yoruba people across the South-West to remain vigilant in the face of growing security challenges confronting Nigeria.

Oba Ladoja made the call over the weekend in Ode-Omu, Osun State, during the annual Ode-Omu Day celebration, a cultural event where indigenes assess the progress of community development and chart future initiatives.

Commending the people of Ode-Omu for their unity and commitment to communal growth under the leadership of the Alaye of Ode-Omu, Oba James Bolarinwa Oladipupo, the Olubadan pledged Ibadanland’s continued support for the town’s development efforts. He further announced that next year’s edition of Ode-Omu Day would be chaired by an illustrious son of Ibadan and Parakoyi of Ibadanland, Chief Tunde Afolabi.

Earlier in his remarks, a former Minister of Police Affairs, Alhaji Jelili Wale Adesiyan, told the large gathering that Ode-Omu’s present settlement was founded by ancient warriors from Ibadan in 1909. He praised the royal fathers for their presence, particularly the Olubadan, whom he described as a symbol of unity for the Yoruba race.

Members of the Olubadan-in-Council in attendance included the Balogun of Ibadanland, Oba Tajudeen Ajibola; the Osi Olubadan, Oba Abiodun Kola-Daisi; and the Ekerin Balogun of Ibadanland, High Chief Senator Sarafadeen Alli.

The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, was represented by the Salu of Edunabon, Oba Kehinde Oladepo, while the Ogunsua of Modakeke, Oba Francis Adedoyin, also graced the event with his chiefs.
