Supporters and sympathizers of Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP) in the February 25 election believe they will reclaim their "stolen" mandate as the Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal (PEPT) delivers judgment.

Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Peter Obi of the Labour Party (LP) and the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) are challenging President Bola Tinubu’s declaration as the winner of the 2023 presidential election.

President Tinubu was declared the winner of the elections by the electoral commission, INEC.

Tinubu, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) is reported to have
defeated 17 other candidates who took part in the election. He scored a total of 8,794,726 votes, the highest of all the candidates, thus meeting the first constitutional requirement to be declared the winner.

He also scored over 25 percent of the votes cast in 30 states, more than the 24 states constitutionally required.

INEC Chairman Mahmood Yakubu, who announced the final results in the early hours of Wednesday in Abuja, said Atiku Abubakar of the PDP came second in the election.

Atiku polled a total of 6,984,520 votes in the election.

His victory is, however, contested in court.

The legal team of Peter Obi and Datti Baba Ahmed is headed by Dr. Livy Uzoukwu SAN.
