Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) boss Gbenga Ogunbote says Wednesday’s 3-2 victory over Plateau United was “a massive relief” and “the performance was a statement” to the rest of the NPFL.

Ogunbote says Shooting Stars showed signs of rediscovering their true form as his team recorded first against top side this season.

A brace by Ayanrinde Samuel and one from right back, Ghali Falke, cancelled the visitors’ shocking opener, to ensure the Oluyole Warriors return to winning way.

Ogunbote said his overriding emotion was one of relief following a damaging sequence of poor run of form that left the team closer to relegation.

“It is a big relief for the team, for sometime we have not been able to get three points both at home and on the road. It will enhance the confidence of the players and it will give them some kind of relief. But the important thing is that we thank God”.

The Oracle, admitted his players failed to reproduce the quality or intensity that made them one of the title contenders after a successful pre season, but believes the result can help turn around their season starting with the matchday 12 trip to Akure against Kwara United of Ilorin.

“We take it one after the other. Kwara United came here while we were sharing the field and they forced us to a draw. We pray that as we go there for the return leg, we will take our chances and we pray for a level playing ground”. He concluded.
