At least two persons have tested positive for COVID-19 in Ogun State out of the 210 contacts traced in the state tested positive for coronavirus.

Ogun State Commissioner for Health, Dr Tomi Coker, says no fewer than 110 contacts traced to cases of COVID-19 in the state have been discharged.

Coker said this on Thursday at a press conference to give an update on coronavirus in the state.

She said, “Since the announcement of the index case in Nigeria, Ogun state has since recorded nine infections in total.

“In the last 24 hours, we have discharged three and in total, we have discharged six patients. We still have three active cases receiving treatment and care in our facility.

“In addition, we have traced 210 individuals. Of this 210, we have discharged 110. Of the 110 who had finished their monitoring, two of them actually tested positive.”

She, however, announced that the state was taking possession of another molecular lab next week which she said would increase testing capacity to 1,000 per day.

According to her, there will be testing boot installed in our high rate vulnerable communities which border Lagos.

“We would encourage people to come forward in the next week to get tested especially during this lockdown.

“Furthermore, the state has also engaged the mobile labs which will be roaming around our communities. We have also scaled up the number of technicians to five,” she said.
