The self-proclaimed leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Simon Ekpa claims that Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP) is part of the secessionist group.

Ekpa made this known in a series of tweets on Tuesday, January 10, 2023.

He said: "Will @PeterObi who have supported Biafra & IPOB in everything from the beginning till now after denying Biafra, relocate to Kano before June 2023? At least temporary Exile in Arewa Republic because Biafraland will not be conducive. I am very sure of that."

"Peter Obi is part of IPOB, both physically, spiritually & otherwise, he lied."

"I am only responding to his lies. Does he think he can use IPOB & dump IPOB? We will drag him to Freedom next month."

His comment has generated reactions on social media from supporters of the former Anambra State governor who criticised his attempt to link Obi to the proscribed group

Recall that Obi had in 2017 faulted the Nigerian government’s proscription of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).

He also faulted the government's designation of IPOB as a terrorists organisation.

Mr Obi stated this on 1 October 2017 when he appeared as a guest on Channels TV’s Politics Today.

A video clip of the interview, published on YouTube, has been trending on social media.

IPOB is a separatist group that is leading an agitation for an independent state of Biafra which it wants carved out from the South-east and some parts of the South-south Nigeria.

The group has been accused of being responsible for the deadly attacks in the South-east.

Meanwhile, the Igbo community in Finland has distanced itself from the actions and utterances of Mr. Simon Ekpa, the self-proclaimed head of an autopilot Indigenous Peoples of Biafra, IPoB, separatist group residing in Lahu, Finland.
