Following a communal clash that led to the death of three people on Sunday, May 16, 2021, Anambra State Governor, Willie Obiano, has imposed a curfew on two communities in the state.

The residents of the two communities, Anaku and Omor engaged in a clash leaving houses burnt and some residents injured with three dead.

The imposed curfew will begin at 7pm to 6am until further notice, this was stated in a statement released by the Secretary to the State Government, Professor Solo Chukwukibelu.

According to the Secretary, the governor has warned its administration would not tolerate breach of peace from any resident and anyone found guilty of the offence will be punished by the law.

The State Police Public Relations Officer (PRO), Ikenga Tochukwu, confirmed the death of the three residents. However, indicated that normalcy has been restored to the communities after some intervention.

"Normalcy has been restored in the area and our men are still on the ground to ensure the safety of life and property. So far, we have recovered three bodies that have been deposited at the morgue," PRO said.

The crisis between the two communities are reported to lands disputes involving a former Chief Judge of Anambra and a former commissioner.
