Obi's interview full of schoolboy errors - Omokri

Social commentator Reno Omokri has slammed ex-presidential candidate Peter Obi for saying government ought to focus on tackling insecurity instead of constructing new roads

Obi, during an interview with Arise TV on Monday, condemned the construction of the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway amid insecurity in some sections of the country.

Reacting, Omokri pointed out to Obi that road construction can take place while government fights insecurity.

This was as he revealed that Obi's interview was full of schoolboyish errors and outright falsehoods,

He said on Facebook, "Mr. Peter Obi faulted the President for building the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway and said that President Tinubu should have rather focused on fighting insecurity.

"Has it occurred to Peter Obi that you can build roads and secure a country at the same time, and that it is not an either-or situation? Road building and other infrastructure construction do not have to stop because of insecurity.

"This is the same Peter Obi who criticised President Buhari for focusing on fighting corruption and abandoning the economy? He said, "You can’t close your shop to chase thieves". That is an exact quote out of his mouth. Today, he wants President Tinubu to close Nigeria's shop and exclusively pursue terrorists.

"Peter Obi likes to praise Ukraine. Please fact-check me. Ukraine is fighting a fratricidal war with Russia, yet they are still building roads, bridges, schools and hospitals.

"Does this mean that if Peter Obi were Nigeria's President, he would collapse the economy to focus on fighting security?

"Lack of adequate infrastructure is itself a causative factor for insecurity. Addressing our infrastructural deficit also helps us fight insecurity.

"Okay, Peter Obi did not build a single nursery, primary, secondary school, or university during his eight years as governor of Anambra. Yet, under Obi, Anambra was one of the most insecure parts of Nigeria. So, clearly, that strategy does not work!

"Meanwhile, when the government began prosecuting a terrorist like Nnamdi Kanu, Peter Obi criticised the President. And when another terrorist, Simon Ekpa, was arrested, Obi said NOTHING.

"This is a man who has never once condemned the insecurity caused by IPOB. Instead, he defended IPOB and said they are not terrorists and that he lives with them and meets them in Onitsha.

"Today's interview has shown Nigerians why we cannot hand over the Presidency of our dear country to a man whose highest educational qualification is a weak Second-Class Degree in Philosophy.

"Peter Obi is a trader, not a leader!"
