Obi is biggest reason Tinubu will win presidential poll - Keyamo

Spokesperson of the ruling All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Council (APC-PCC), Mr. Festus Keyamo, has said the presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Mr. Peter Obi, is the “greatest weapon” of the ruling party to retain power.

Keyamo spoke on Arise TV yesterday.

The Minister of State for Labour and Employment said Obi’s movement has turned the February 25 election into “a one-horse race” in favour of the APC.

He added that the LP candidate has taken a significant support structure of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) with him, causing “mounting problems” for the main opposition.

Keyamo said: “The truth of the matter is that this election appears to be over already. It is a one-horse race. I am not hyping our candidate because I am the spokesperson. But any close watcher of events should know by now so the result will not shock anybody when it drops.”

He added: “The problems are mounting for the PDP, both in and out of the party. Every person who supported PDP against us in 2019 (has left).

“Ohaneze Ndigbo, Middle Belt Forum, PANDEF, Afenifere, Obasanjo and Ayo Adebanjo, all endorsed Atiku Abubakar in 2019. But now, they have pulled out. They are supporting Labour Party.

“We said Peter Obi is the greatest weapon that Asiwaju has. Obi is the biggest reason Asiwaju will win this election.”

Also, a member of the APC-PCC, Cletus Obun, has dismissed former President Olusegun Obasanjo’s endorsement of Peter Obi as an exercise in futility.

Addressing reporters in Calabar, the Cross River State capital, Obun, who is the Southsouth Coordinator of the PCC’s Public Affairs Directorate, said it would be the miracle of the century for the LP presidential candidate to win the February 25poll.

“The so-called popularity and endorsements cannot guarantee victory for Peter Obi.

“We are overreacting to Obasanjo’s endorsement of Obi. The former President has run his full cyrcle and what you are seeing now is a once-upon-a-time patriot who is now on the decline and he thought he can re-invent himself.”

Also, a spokesman of the Peoples Democratic Party Presidential Campaign Council (PDP-PCC), Daniel Bwala, also said Peter Obi “cannot win more than three states”.

“It is interesting that not long ago, they were saying Arthur Eze has only one vote. But now, they are saying Obasanjo has delivered victory to them. This social media political party cannot win more than three states,” Bwala wrote on his verified Twitter handle.
