Former presidential aide Reno Omokri has slammed ex-presidential candidate Peter Obi for urging the Federal Government to make Mathematics a compulsory subject for art students.
In a statement on Tuesday, Obi said, "I therefore strongly condemn the decision to remove Mathematics as a compulsory requirement for Arts students. Such a policy is a regrettable step backwards in our collective effort to build an enlightened, competent, and globally competitive society.
"Mathematics is not merely about numbers; it cultivates logic, sharpens critical thinking, and develops problem-solving skills essential for everyday life. Whether one studies the Arts or Sciences, the ability to reason clearly and make sound judgments is indispensable - qualities that Mathematics uniquely nurtures."
Reacting, Omokri shared a photo of Obi's WAEC result to show that he couldn't get a Credit in Maths but a Pass, yet wants art students to be burdened with the subject.
He wrote, "Someone who did not even get a credit in Mathematics insists that Nigerian art students must pass Mathematics during WAEC before they can gain admission into a university. That means Peter Obi should return his certificate to UNN. By his own admission, he did not merit his admission.
"President Tinubu is giving you student loans to facilitate your university dreams, while Obi is placing roadblocks in your way.
If you are an art student, vote for Peter Obi at your own risk!"
