Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has extended his felicitations to Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, on the occasion of his 63rd birthday.

Atiku described Peter Obi as a "friend" and a "dedicated patriot" in a post on Twitter.

"On behalf of my family, I extend hearty birthday wishes to my good friend, a dedicated patriot, and former Governor of Anambra State, @PeterObi on his 63rd birthday. May you enjoy many more years of good health and continued service to our nation," the post reads.

Both men ran on the ticket of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2019 presidential elections but with different parties in the 2023 election.

Obi served as a two-term governor of Anambra State between 2006 and 2014 as a member of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA).

He defected to the PDP in 2014.
