Obasanjo gives up house to be used for coronavirus isolation centre

Ex-Nigerian President, Olusegun Obasanjo, has given up his former house at the Presidential Hilltop, Abeokuta, Ogun State to be used as an isolation centre.

The aim is to help the government house victims for treatment as they battle against the deadly coronavirus pandemic continue.

Obasanjo, in a statement by his spokesman, Kehinde Akinyemi, said the 32-room facility has been handed over to the Ogun state government for immediate takeover.

According to Akinyemi’s statement, Obasanjo was concerned about the pandemic.

“And I think those who can in one way or another assist in this situation should do so,” the statement quoted the former President as saying.

The facility, located off the Presidential Boulevard, Oke Sari, Abeokuta has each of the 32 rooms ensuite, with a standby generator. [Channels TV]

As of Friday, March 27, Nigeria's coronavirus cases has risen to 81 and one death, according to the NCDC report which states that Ogun State has three patients.

Recall that Mynigeria.com reported that the cases rose to 81 in less than 4 hours after 70 cases were confirmed by the NCDC.
