Netizens have mocked political activist Omoyele Sowore after he was seen running following gunshots fired by the police in Abuja on Monday.

Sowore and others had gathered to stage a protest seeking the release of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu.

Kanu is being held by the Department of State Services (DSS) and is facing charges bordering on terrorism and treasonable felony.

At the protest ground, Sowore could be seen, according to a video, running away while shots were being fired to dispersed the protesters.

In a post on X, he said, "The @PoliceNG team deployed to brutalize #FreeNnamdiKanuNow protesters arrested Nnamdi Kanu's brother, and his lawyer, @AloyEjimakor, as well as innocent bystanders. They were beaten and taken to the FCT command. The police must release them immediately!:

Reacting, an X user mocked him, saying he fled the scene like the famous Jamaican sprinter, Usain Bold.
