Nigerians have taken to social media to lambast President Muhammadu Buhari over his tweet asking how the attack on Kuje prison happened.

Following the recent attack on the Kuje prison in Abuja, the president, Muhammadu Buhari expressed his disappointment at the incident which left 5 people dead and 19 others injured.

Yesterday, July 7, President Buhari paid a visit to the prison to ascertain the level of destruction caused by the terrorists at the facility.

He said in a Twitter post on Wednesday; "Saddened by the attack on the Medium Security Custodial Centre, Kuje. I am disappointed with the intelligence system. How can terrorists organize, have weapons, attack a security installation and get away with it? I am expecting a comprehensive report on this shocking incident."

His comment didn't seat well with Nigerians as many took to the micro-blogging platform to ridicule him for posing a question to Nigerians on how the attack happened.

So far, over 800 inmates have been reported to have fled the prison during the attack. The security agencies have recaptured over 300 inmates.

It was said that both inmates and personnel of the NSCDC were killed in the process. Explosives and KPGs were part of the weapons used in attacking the correctional facility.

However, the terrorist group Islamic State's West Africa Province (ISWAP), has taken credit for the attack on Kuje prison.

Here are some comments from tweeps.
