Nigerians now know Obi is an Uber politician - Abure

The faction of the Labour Party led by Julius Abure has dismissed Peter Obi, the party’s 2023 presidential hopeful, calling him an “Uber” politician.

In a public statement, Abure accused Obi of engaging in political deception, claiming that the ex-Governor of Anambra is often reactive and alarmist over issues that don't warrant such attention.

He also highlighted Obi's record of running for office under multiple political banners simultaneously, suggesting that Obi’s actions are driven by a reckless desire for power rather than genuine political conviction.

“It is unfortunate that Obi has turned himself into an irony and a paradox in the Nigerian political space. He has become an ‘Uber’ politician, unwilling to take a position and stand by his decision,” Abure said.

His remarks came in response to Obi’s recent directive asking supporters to back African Democratic Congress (ADC) candidates in the August 16 by-elections across several states.

Abure further stated, "Despite the goodwill he enjoyed from this leadership, Obi has repaid it with betrayal and sabotage," adding that "He lacks the competence, character, and capacity to deliver the vision of a New Nigeria."

He also said, "We call on our candidates, members, and supporters in all affected states to stay focused, vote Labour, and deliver victory," the party declared. "Nigerians now know who Peter Obi really is."
