Nigerians fire Shettima for asking victims, residents of accidental bombing in Kaduna to move on

Vice President Kashim Shettima Vice President Kashim Shettima

Vice President Kashim Shettima is currently under fire after he said there was no gain restating the army airstrike trumpeting the army airstrike that killed at least 126 persons and left several injured at Tudun Biri village in the Igabi Local government Area of Kaduna State.

Recall that last Sunday, the Nigerian Army bombed a village in Kaduna while they were celebrating Maulud at Tudun Biri village in the Igabi LGA, killing about 126 people and leaving scores injured.

It was later revealed that the bombing was an accident. However, the incident has since sparked massive reactions from Nigerians as they condemned the army.

Shettima who led a Federal Government delegation to the village and hospital to commiserate with the injured, said in an interview with journalists that; “there is no gain in dwelling too much on this incident that has happened. I am here because the President is deeply concerned; he was deeply touched by what happened.

“The late Dele Giwa rightly said, let’s not talk about the numbers, one life lost in cold blood is as gruesome as millions lost in a pogrom. The heart of the President is with the bereaved families. We were at the hospital to sympathise with the victims and be assured that the Federal Government stands by the community affected and the government and people of Kaduna State on this unfortunate incident.”

His comment caused a stir among Nigerians as they lament his lack of sympathy to the victims.

@EmmanuelUzoch18: 150 people died, they have not finished grieving and mourning their dead then you, Shettima opens your uncouth again to say they should move on.

@RealOlaudah: This is the value they place on human life, especially the lives of the poor.

@dammygtnet: From NSA to VP, these guys have reduced the value of lives to virtually zero in their hearts. Zero empathy. No declaration of national mourning, No succour to the bereaved families. They just want people to move on, just like that?

@DanielRegha: The insensitivity of most Nigerian politicians is beyond pathet!c; Over 120 people died in the bomb attack by the military, but Shettima thinks it's no big deal? Statements like these are why such mistakes reoccur. No accountability, nothing. Nigeria don't have reliable leaders.

@ontimesam: Insensitive leader.
Nigeria problem is not corruption but lack of checks and balances or pushback
