Nigerians bemoan launch of an international worship centre in Akwa Ibom amidst abject poverty

Akwa Ibom state government has now completed the gigantic project and construction of the controversial International Worship Center initiated by the immediate past government of Mr. Udom Emmanuel, and constructed engineering giants, Julius Berger.

The edifice when it’s construction stages were unveiled few years ago attracted serious criticism from people of the state who believed that such beautiful and expensive structure should have been for general purposes that could attract high profile events and generate revenue for the state as against serving as a religious building that would only be maximized once in a while.

Today, 2nd January 2023, the Akwa Ibom State Government held her annual new year worship service at the now completed international worship Centre built by the immediate past Governor of the state, Mr. Udom Emmanuel.

To say the least, the worship Centre designed in the shape of a vessel or ship is an architectural masterpiece. And it’s worth billions of naira.

I took some pictures at the venue and also get other pictures taken professionally when we visited the building recently to feed our eyes.

This is the new Akwa Ibom International worship Centre in Nigeria built with 32.3 billion Naira. 32 billion Naira can empower 32 000 Akwa Ibomites with 1 million Naira each as small business capital. @teamanempire: I asked someone the economic importance of a worship center and you wouldn't like to hear the response I got. He simply said it's because Akwa Ibom State is named after God. Can you beat that? Indeed we're actually our own problems in this country.
