'Nigerian athletics is back' - Amusan finally reacts after CWG triumph

World record holder, Tobi Amusan has congratulated her relay teammates for their record-breaking feat achieved at the just-ended Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, UK.

The quartet includes; Grace Nwokocha, Rosemary Chukwuma, Favour Ofili, and Joy Udo-Gabriel.

Team Nigeria clinched a gold medal in the women's 4x100m relay event on Sunday, August 7 with a new record time of 42.10s.

The 25-year-old singlehandedly clinched another gold medal in the women's 100m hurdles event with a time of 12.30s.

Nigeria's athletic queen took to her Facebook to hail her compatriots for their remarkable achievements.

She added that Nigeria's athletics is back and with more support, they will dominate going forward.

“Really proud of these young ladies; Grace Nwokocha, Rosemary Chukwuma, Favour Ofili and Joy Udo-Gabriel (not pictured).

“They set an African Record at the World Champs and here at the just concluded Commonwealth Games, I joined the team to further break the record, clocking 42.10s.

“Nigerian Athletics is BACK!!! With more support we will dominate the World,” she wrote.

Team Nigeria produced the country's best performance at the games winning 12 gold medals.

The team clinched 35 medals in total and finished 7th on the medal table ahead of any other African representative.
