The Nigerian youtuber, Emdee Tiamiyu who said in an interview with BBC that Nigerian students do not travel to the United Kingdom because of degree but for greener pastures is currently under fire again.

This comes after the United Kingdom Prime Minister Rishi Sunak announced that the banning of dependants from accompanying international students begins January 2, 2024.

The announcement which was made via X, by the UK’s Home Office on Monday stated that only foreign students in postgraduate research or government-sponsored scholarship could bring their dependants through the study visas.

Recall that the youtuber said in an interview with BBC, that “It is not like they [Nigerian students] need the degree, they need the degree as an access road to come into the country. So, a lot of these people their priorities shifted real fast…It’s not really about their education.”

The interview went viral shortly after the UK prohibited foreign students from bringing in dependants in May 2023.

The ban has finally taken effect with many remembering Tiamiyu's interview with the media giant, as several Nigerians continue to slam him for his assertion.

@praiseoghre: Finally he has succeeded in destroying many families

@Dirawnn: The problem with many Nigerians abroad is that they talk too much!

They get on social media and complain about everything, from being lonely, to working all hour long while at work, to not having someone to date!

We are our own problem!

@DonyiboOyibo: That's what greed does you successfully went there without issues now you decided to block others what's your gain now?
