Nigerian Senate passes Student Loan bill

The Senate has passed the Student Loan, Access to Higher Education, Act 2024 into law.

Recall that President Bola Tinubu conveyed the Bill to the National Assembly for consideration and passage.

After the bill passed its first and second reading in both parliamentary sittings became a law on Wednesday, March 20, 2024.

The senate’s resolution followed its consideration of the report of the senate committee on tertiary institutions and TETFUND.

Chairman of the committee, Senator Muntari Dandutse presented the report during plenary.

The Bill will provide easy access to higher education for Nigerians through interest-free loans from the Nigerian Education Loan Fund established in the Act.
