Nigerian Senate adjourns plenary over coronavirus

Ahmad Lawal Ahmad Lawal

The Nigerian Senate has on Tuesday announced that it would be adjourning sittings for two weeks due to coronavirus pandemic.

This was disclosed during a two-hours closed-door plenary by the Senate President Ahmad Lawal.

The senate also advised the Federal and State Governments to assist with funds to help fight against coronavirus which now has 40 cases in Nigeria.

Lawal also asked the Senate Committee on Health and Communicable Disease to swing into action in the fight against the scourge.

This comes after news broke out that the Chief of Staff, Abba Kyari, tested positive to coronavirus.

Abba Kyari is said to have to contract the virus after he attended a meeting in Germany and Egypt on the Nigerian Electricity Regulation Commission.
