Nigeria to announce more cases of coronavirus on Monday - NCDC

Coronavirus Coronavirus

The Director-General of the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), Chikwe Ihekweazu, has said that there will be an announcement of more cases of coronavirus in Nigeria on Monday.

The NDDC boss disclosed this during an interview with Channels TV where he revealed that the NCDC is working tirelessly to put the situation under control.

"We still have 30 cases but we will be reporting more cases later today. Definitely there will be more cases reported, and we have to brace ourselves for an evolving situation over the next few days as we work very hard to get the situation under control," he said.

Ihekweazu revealed that the challenge being faced by NCDC is monitoring abroad returnees to know whether they are following guidelines given by health authorities to help prevent the spread of the virus.

He, however, urged Nigerians to adhere to the guidelines given as he revealed that health workers have been working round the clock in the battle against the virus.

"The human resource requirement for the scale of work we're required to do at the moment in the containment phase is incredible because every day the numbers of people coming in are increasing exponentially. And we cannot increase our workforce exponentially," he said.
