Nigeria’s nationhood structure collapsing, says Obi

Former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi has likened the current state of Nigeria to a collapsing structure.

He expressed pity for those fighting to control the nation’s affairs.

The ex-governor told politicians that what they are fighting to control “is an empty shell, as the entire structure the country is built upon is collapsing”.

He warned that the road the nation’s leadership is taking is fraught with danger and will lead to a dead-end, if not perdition.

Obi spoke on Thursday as the guest speaker during the 60th anniversary of the founding of the University of Nigerian, Nsukka (UNN), Enugu State.

“Our life expectancy in Nigeria, for instance, is not only lower than all the countries among which it was grouped 20 years ago, but it is even lower than war-torn countries, like Syria and Afghanistan. So, you find out that what we’re fighting for is already collapsing because the engine of the vehicle that is taking us has a problem and is in a ditch,” he said.
