Nigeria ranks 96th in world’s happiest countries for 2023

The latest World Happiness Report has ranked Nigeria 95th happiest country in the world.

The country's position grew from 118th in 2022 to 95th in 2023, beating other African countries such as Ghana which ranked 107th this year.

According to the United Nations Sustainable Development Solutions Network publication, the report ranked countries based on their average life evaluations over the previous three years, with data collected from more than 150 countries through the Gallup World Poll.

Having being released on March 20, the International Day of Happiness, the report states the happiest and least happy nations.

Finland holds the number one spot for the sixth year in a row, as Denmark, Iceland, Switzerland and the Netherlands make up the top five respectively.

Mauritius is the highest-ranked African country at 52nd.

The least 10 ranked countries include; Ethiopia - 124, Liberia - 125, Zambia - 128, Tanzania - 129, Comoros - 130, Malawi - 131, Botswana - 132, Congo - 133, Zimbabwe - 134, Sierra Leone - 135.

Reacting to the ranking, some Nigerians have taken to social media to share their thoughts on the ranking.
