Nigeria is safer and better under Buhari than Jonathan - Lauretta Onochie

Lauretta Onochie, the Special Assistant to President Muhamadu Buhari has rebuked people who are calling for the removal of the Fulanis herdsmen from the South West.

She took to social media on Monday to state that the country is safer under President Muhammadu Buhari than under the previous administrations led by Former President Goodluck Jonathan.

Her comment follows the recent crisis in the southwest between the Fulani herders and farmers in Ondo and Oyo states.

According to Madam Onochie's tweet, in a data provided by the international organisation, ombudsman Nigeria was safer under Buhari than the previous administration.

Although no link to the mentioned data was provided.

“After restructuring, they moved to Fulani herdsmen and Boko Haram. Then an international “ombudsman” organisation, released statistics showing that in spite of security challenges, Nigeria is safer under this government than the previous,” she tweeted.

She however cautioned Nigerians to desist from the ongoing critism on the entire Fulani nationalities for the crimes of a few, adding that the recent criticism is political and hatred for the President.

“If there’s an ethnic or community clash where lives and property are lost, we pick and choose which to attribute to community clash & which to lay on the doorsteps of the Fulanis, President Buhari’s ethnic group in order to satisfy the craving for more bitterness & hatred towards President Buhari.

“There’s no tribe that is free of bad eggs. But criminalizing an ethnic group because you don’t like President Buhari’s face, is nothing short of evil and fishing for trouble.”

She added that, “Fulanis who have lived in the area for decades, are made to suffer the consequences of crimes committed by others. Why is this? They are Fulanis, Pres Buhari’s ethnic group.”
