Arise Television co-anchor, Rufai Oseni has said that Nigeria is blessed but the corruption is bleeding the country dry.

He said this while reacting to a comment made by Human Right Lawyer, Femi Falana that $9 billion worth of gold is illegally taken out of Nigeria annually but are been told by government that there is no money.

In an interview with Channels Television, Femi Falana narrated how he discovered that Nigeria mineral law reaps Nigerians off their lands and properties.

According to him, a company offered his client in Osun State N150,000 for his land but proceeded to court and won a settlement of N250,000.

He explained that after the case, he discovered that the company would make a profit of $500 million in 5 years without tax.

Displeased by the discovery, he wondered why government would ask the poor to tighten their belt while millions worth of gold are illegally taken out of Nigeria.

"Under our mineral act, if you're mining gold or any solid mineral in my land, what does the law provides, a N100 per acre. An old law. They were going to give our client N150,000, we went to court, the Federal High Court Oshogbo. The other lawyer said no this is what the law provides. We said no, section 44 (1) of the constitution says if you take over my land for a public purpose, I will be paid a fair and just compensation. The judge awarded N250 million to our client.

Unfortunately, after the case, unfortunately for the company we discovered that in 5 years that company will make a profit of $500 million, no tax. You run a country and you ask the poor tighten your belt."

Reacting to the Falana's submission, Rufai Oseni said the problem of Nigeria is the corrupt leaders.

He noted that should corruption reduce in the country, there will be enough for the citizens.

Taking to his Twitter page, Oseni wrote; "Falana says 9 billion dollars worth of gold is taken out of Nigeria and we say Govt doesn’t have money. when we reduce corruption we will have more than enough for the people. Nigeria is blessed but corruption is bleeding us dry. Nigerians don’t need to suffer this much, our corrupt leadership is the problem."
