Niger's bye-election commences today

The bye-election into the Magama/Rijau federal constituency in Niger state has commenced today.

MyNigeria.com can confirm that Polling Unit 004 at Ungwar Sarki II, Tungan Magajiya Ward 09, Rijau opened at 7.30 am this morning.

Recall that Prof. Samuel Egwu, Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in the state, noted that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Niger was ready for today's bye-election.



“We are fully ready for the bye-election with our trained electoral personnel ready to conduct a transparent and credible election for Magama and Rijau federal constituency,” Egwu said.

He said the commission had already distributed election materials and was waiting for the sensitive materials any moment from now to keep them at the Central Bank Minna for safekeeping.

Alhaji Adamu Usman, Commissioner of Police promised to make sure the electoral process for today is free of vote-rigging, violence and vote-buying.
