To combat instability in the country, Niger has declared a total ban on commercial motorcycles.

Alhaji Ahmed Mohammed Ketso, the Deputy Governor, made the announcement on Wednesday.

The prohibition will take effect on Thursday, June 3, 2021, according to Ketso.

From 9:00 p.m. until 6:00 a.m., he stated, only private bikes are permitted to operate.

The Okada Riders Association has been notified, according to the Deputy Governor, and the new prohibition will be enforced against them.

Emirs, District Heads, and Village Heads were also urged by Ketso to begin profiling new residents in their areas.

He added that they will also communicate with local government chairmen, emphasizing the importance of all officials and inhabitants being security conscious.

The Deputy Governor claimed they are still talking with the bandits about the Tegina Islamiyya Children, but declined to say how far along they are in the process.
