Nationals of Niger Republic on Thursday, August 3, embarked on a protest against President Bola Tinubu, the Chairman of the Economic Community of West Africa States (ECOWAS).

The residents held placards unpleasant messages about the Nigerian leader, chanted anti-Tinubu songs to express their displeasure at his decisions and plans for Niger.

This comes following President Tinubu's plans to restore democracy in the West African country.

ECOWAS under Tinubu had gave the Niger junta a 7-day ultimatum to reinstate ousted President Mohamed Bazoum.

According to reports, President Tinubu also cut the power supply from Nigeria to Nigeria.

A delegation led by former military Head of State, Gen Abdulsalam Abubakar, was sent to Niger on Thursday, to engage with the coup leaders, but they only met with their representatives.

The junta under Gen Abdourahmane Tchiani in a message to the press announced that it had severed ties with France, America, Togo and Nigeria.

Most European countries in Niger Republic have began evacuating their nationals.

Some Nigerians who came across the viral video took to social media to share their thoughts.

@Pharmkelvin_UK: True record breaker. He is nothing but a mockery to Nigeria.

@BenAdegoriola: People rose up against their captors, and then you cut their power supply. For Nigeria, it's only a question of when the revolution will happen. The people will eventually take back their country if the judiciary fails to deliver on the people's mandate. Just wait and see.

@AEzenyili: Indeed He's a Regular Record Breaker for Illegalities

Thomas_kelvin16: This is embarrassing

@NjaCoach: Seems muscle flexing by Tinubu twds Niger Rep is part of efforts to legitimize himself in the eyes of the West. Illegitimacy exposes one to ridicule & subtle blackmail. What Nigerians need is a president that focuses on our national interests, not a surrogate for Western countries chasing uranium. Nigeria should not support a war in Niger Rep.

@ApaseAngel28391: The only reason citizens of African countries, where coups have taken place are celebrating with the soldiers for outstanding elected governments is because democracy has failed in the hands of those civilian leaders and African generally. So bad meehn
