The Niger Republic has hit the trends in Nigeria's Twitter space following the allegation that President Muhammadu Buhari approved N1.4 billion for the purchase of 10 vehicles for the West African country.

Popular investigative journalist, David Hundeyin on Tuesday, August 3 published a document from the country’s budget office alleging that President Buhari approved the funds for the purchase of 10 Toyota land Cruiser jeeps.

The document shared also revealed the account name and number to which the money was paid into.

Since the news broke, netizens have called out the federal government and the president for being inconsiderate of the needs of Nigerians. The conversation has generated more than 23,000 tweets with most of the comments attacking the current administration.

MyNigeria at the time of filing the report couldn't verify the authenticity of the document.

@benigbakpa said: "It's not the first time he's shown such unworthy favouritism to the Niger Republic. Some will justify this as an aspect of diplomatic goodwill but it is not. It is nepotism and a show of gratitude for the interference of Niger in our internal affairs, especially elections."

@OvieO said: "President Buhari has done more for Niger Republic than Nigeria."
