Investigative journalist David Hundeyin believes that no political leader should apologize to Nigerians for a comment that has been either misunderstood or misinterpreted.
Hundeyin made this statement after Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, reacted to a misinterpreted suggestion that church vigils should be converted into night shifts.
Emphasizing that Nigeria suffers from poverty and lack of productivity due to politics and religion, Obi argued that too much time was spent attending church services from Monday to Friday.
His position sparked mixed reactions among Nigerians, with many condemning it as an infringement on religious traditions.
Hundeyin, who was a key ally of Obi before the elections, opined that Nigerians are people who "should not be treated with respect," adding that "if you respect them and explain yourself too much, they turn you into Goodluck Jonathan."

Be interesting to see whether PO has learned from 2022 and realised that when Nigerians start doing that thing where they deliberately mishear, miscomprehend, and misinterprete something you said, you should NEVER apologise or explain yourself.
Nigerians are not people who want to be treated with respect. If you respect them and explain yourself too much, they turn you into Goodluck Jonathan. If you tell them to fuck off and die (and actually kill some of them), you'll win 2 terms as president.
The best thing PO can do is completely ignore the entire contrived "controversy," show up somewhere next week with THE WIDEST shit-eating grin on his face, and donate N10m to a school. Then he should double down and repeat his comments at the event, so that whoever wants to die should hurry up and drink Sniper.
People that are ruled by a blue collar criminal that is using their whole country as a US foreign policy outpost, and they cannot even talk about it. Who told them their opinion matters in this world? They should carry that opinion to Aso Rock and do their nonsense rubbernecking there first.
