Netizens have slammed former presidential candidate Peter Obi after seeing the deplorable state of a major road in Anambra State during his eight-year tenure as governor.
This was after Obi stated that he wants to serve as Nigeria's President for just four years, because that is enough for any purposeful leader to transform the country.
“Forty-eight months is enough for any leader who is focused and prepared to make a meaningful difference. I do not intend to stay a day longer. History shows that the longer many African leaders remain in power, the more likely they are to be corrupted by it,” he added.
However, netizens pointed out that he couldn't transform Anambra State, which he governed for eight years, hence the reason why they don't trust his one-term promise.
Their criticism worsened when they saw a 2013 tweet complaining about the poor state of a major road under Obi's leadership.
The post was shared by X user @Lexardour, who said, "Unizik junction Awka. Status of the road our dear Gov Peter Obi rides to work daily for 8 years......mmmm."
Reacting, @Mz_Tosyn said, "Ordinary road he couldn’t finish in 8 years."
@MSIngawa said, "Mr one-term really delivered good governance. His 8 years were enough to make Anambra London. That's why everyone is trooping to Anambra to enjoy good governance. Peter Obi, well done!"
@de_generalnoni said, “If Peter Obi becomes president, Nigeria will turn around. Na god take all una one by one for wishing this failure on Nigeria."
@smart_money7 said, "It shall not be well with every Obidient attempting to force this fraud and failure on Nigerians. Is this what you insult people for?"
@adex_smithjr said, "Instead of them to tell us the truth that they’re only supporting Peter Obi because he’s Igbo, but they wanna gaslight us, saying he’s the best candidate. It shall not be well with those of you who packaged that man."
