Opposition parties are currently contesting the just concluded 2023 presidential election held on February 25.

As the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC declared Bola Tinubu the winner and president-elect on March 1, there have been agitations from some opposition parties.

According to reports, four out of 18 political parties who participated in the elections have embarked on a legal suit against the declaration of the results.

The list of petitioners seeking redress at the Tribunal court include;

1. Atiku Abubakar, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)

2. Peter Obi, Labour Party (LP)

3. Solomon Okangbuan, Action Alliance (AA)

4. Chichi Ojei, Allied People’s Movement (APM)

The presidential candidates are petitioning the court over lack of compliance with the electoral law during the polls.

According to the aggrieved parties, the winner of the election did not comply with the guidelines of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The petition also mentions the irregularities and electoral malpractices, as INEC failed to upload the election results on its Results Viewing Portal (IREV) from the polling units.
