The naira continued its appreciation against the United States dollar on Friday at the official foreign exchange market, ending the week on a good note.
Data from the Central Bank of Nigeria showed that the naira strengthened slightly further to N1,436.58 against the dollar on Friday, up from N1,436.74 on Thursday.
This means that Nigeria’s currency gained N0.16 against the dollar on a day-to-day basis.
Meanwhile, at the black market, the naira remained flat at N1,445 per dollar on Friday, the same rate as on Thursday, according to Abubakar Alhasan, a Bureau De Change operator in Wuse Zone 4, Abuja.
The naira dropped significantly at the official foreign exchange market by N14.85 when compared to N1,421.73 on Friday last week.
On the flip side, the naira firmed massively at the black market.
The development comes as the country’s external reserves continued to rise, standing at $43.32 billion as of Thursday, November 6, 2025.
