Naira Scarcity: I am deeply pained - Buhari sympathizes with Nigerians

President Muhammadu Buhari has expressed his sympathy to Nigerians over the prevailing crisis in the country.

In his broadcast message to Nigerians on Thursday morning, February 16, President Buhari ordered the Central Bank of Nigeria to allow into circulation the old N200 notes along side the new N200, N500 and N1000 notes respectively.

He announced that this takes effect immediately for a period of 6o days which will end on April 10.

According to Buhari, the old N500 and N1000 notes are no longer legal tenders.

The president's speech comes following the protest that occurred in some states on Wednesday. Some of these protests turned bloody as people were recorded dead as a result of the violence.
