The National Youth Service Corps has suspended monthly clearance for two months in order to align with the Government's policy on social distancing as well as the spread of the COVID-19 virus.

This was disclosed in a press statement by the scheme.

The NYSC also assured corps members that their monthly stipends will be paid over this period without recourse to the clearance letters.

As such, Area Directors, State/FCT Coordinators had since been notified of the directive and were ordered to ensure strict compliance.

The scheme also advised corps members to ensure good hygiene and avoid the crowd in order to curb the spread of coronavirus.

"Corps Members are once again admonished to ensure good personal hygiene, social distancing, avoidance of crowd, use of hand sanitizers and facial masks; and above all staying at home in order to guard against falling prey to the virus.

"They are advised to always stay tuned to the NYSC traditional and social media platforms for information," the statement read in part.
