The 2026/27 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season will begin with a Southwest derby carrying more than the usual weight of an opening-day fixture when 3SC (Shooting Stars) host Inter Lagos today in Ibadan.

For Shooting Stars, the encounter at the Lekan Salami Stadium is an opportunity to announce their intentions from the outset. For Inter Lagos, it represents a landmark moment—the club’s historic debut in Nigeria’s top flight after securing promotion from the Nigeria National League (NNL) last season.
