NEMA receives second batch of Nigerian returnees from South Africa

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) in collaboration with other relevant government agencies and stakeholders including the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), and the National Commission for Refugees, Migrants and Internally Displaced Persons, successfully received the second batch of Nigerian returnees evacuated from the Republic of South Africa.

The returnees arrived on Wednesday, 24th June, 2026 at approximately 21:05 hours, aboard South African Airways flight SA60 at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos.

This forms part of the ongoing voluntary repatriation exercise for affected Nigerians.Upon arrival, the returnees, who included men, women, and children, underwent profiling, documentation, and medical screening.

NEMA provided logistics support to transport the returnees to their respective states of origin. Security was provided to secure all the buses conveying the returnees.

The Head of NEMA Lagos Operations Office Mr Tunde Mohammed led the Agency's reception team in receiving the returnees.
