Nigeria Christian Pilgrim Commission Nigeria Christian Pilgrim Commission

The Executive Secretary of the Nigeria Christian Pilgrim Commission, (NCPC) Rev Yakubu Pam has revealed that the Commission would commence its pilgrimage exercise to Jordan in July, 2021.

He made this disclosure in his office, Abuja on Monday while playing host to the Executive Members of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Kaduna State Council on a courtesy visit to the commission.

He explained that every arrangement is being put in place to ensure a successful pilgrimage outing to Jordan, pointing that every approval needed to commence the pilgrimage exercise has been received by the Commission.

He further stressed that there was need for the government, religious leaders, traditional leaders and media practitioners to work in synergy to handle the crisis in Nigeria saying, “the media is the medium that will sell the story in the right perspective that will bring about peace.

"The Northern, and other parts of the country has been faced with a lot of crisis and the Kaduna State NUJ is in a better position to rewrite the history of the region," he said.

Rev. Pam urged the NUJ to be objective in their reportage and focus on the strength of Nigeria and concentrate less on its shortcomings.

“Let us focus and magnify the good deeds of our people and sell it to the outside world. If we celebrate those who are doing a good job in this country, others will emulate their good deeds.

“We will join hands together to engage the principal actors who have been influenced negatively and stop them from displaying their act of destruction, he noted.

In his earlier remarks, Adamu Yusuf commended the Executive Secretary for his warm reception and his visionary leadership style which is anchored on unity of Nigeria.

Comrade Yusuf further commended the NCPC boss for his initiative to see that pilgrims from Nigeria join their counterparts worldwide on pilgrimage to Jordan which he described as a "welcome idea."

He called on political appointees and heads of government agencies to emulate the leadership style of the NCPC boss in order to get the right things done.

Meanwhile, Rev Pam was awarded 'Peace and National Unity' award on Monday in his office by the Global Peace and Life Rescue Initiative.

Receiving the award, the Executive Secretary said he takes delight in people who work and strategize to ensure peace, unity and harmony in Nigeria.

"I am so happy that we are beginning to form a community of people who desire that we have an environment of peace for us to co-exist as a people. Most Communities have different crisis but when they team up, government will have little to do, he stated.

The NCPC boss urged the Global Peace and Life Rescue Initiative to seek more collaborators in the peace mission, adding that this would create an environment for growth and national development.

Earlier, Director of Global Peace and Life Initiative, Ambassador Melvin Ejeh informed the Executive Secretary that their visit to the Commission was to appreciate him for contributing to peace in the Country adding; “we have come to give you this award to thank you for what you are doing, with the need for you to do more”.

He explained that if peace is not embraced, it may lead to anarchy because of the fragile situation of the country in terms of security.

“It is sad that we celebrates our heroes only when they are dead, but we choose to celebrate you and your team on your noble peace efforts," he added.
