The Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board has signed an agreement with Shell Nigeria Gas Limited for the lease of one hectare out of the Board’s land located at Polaku, Bayelsa State.

Shell will use the land for the development of Pressure Reduction Metering Stations at Polaku, in Yenagoa LGA of Bayelsa State

According to the Executive Secretary of the Board, Simbi Wabote, the act was in tandem with NCDMB's vision to industrialise the Nigerian oil and gas industry.

Wabote's words: “In line with our vision to be a catalyst for the industrialisation of the Nigerian oil and gas industry, we have decided to use this leased land to catalyse the distribution and credibility of natural gas and domestic gas users between Bayelsa and neighbouring states.”

Since the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Timipre Sylva declared "the year 2020 as a year of gas," Wabote added that this partnership with Shell would further enable the production and utilization of the country’s gas resources for power generation, transportation, and industrial uses.
